Inter Legends FC Make It Two from Two with 8-2 Win in Mental Health Charity Cup at Penzance AFC
The Inter Legends FC summer tour rolled into Cornwall this past weekend as we took on Speak Out United at the iconic Penzance AFC for the Mental Health Charity Cup—and it was another memorable chapter in our 2025 campaign. Under the Cornish sunshine and in front of an enthusiastic crowd, the legends delivered a dominant performance, running out 8-2 winners in a powerful and purposeful charity football match.
This was more than just a legends football match—it was a platform to raise awareness for mental health and support the incredible work done by Speak Out United in the local community. Football united fans, families, and familiar faces for an afternoon of goals and goodwill.
On the pitch, the goals flowed freely. Owen and Matthew Briggs both produced outstanding hat-tricks, showcasing sharp movement and clinical finishing that the opposition couldn’t contain. Jack Whiting also got on the scoresheet with a well-timed run and finish, while Derek Asamoah added to the tally with a trademark moment of magic.
It was a true team effort, but it was Matthew Briggs who stood out across the 90 minutes. A constant threat down the left and relentless in attack, his performance earned him a well-deserved Man of the Match award.
As with every charity legends football match, the day wasn’t just about what happened on the pitch. From fans lining up for photos to local charities benefiting from fundraising efforts, this celebrity charity football match was another shining example of the power of sport for social good.
We’d like to thank everyone at Penzance AFC for their hospitality and to Speak Out United for the incredible work they do. The match may be over, but the message carries on: speak out, support each other, and never underestimate the community that football builds.
Two matches, two wins—and the tour is just getting started. Stay tuned as Inter Legends FC continues to bring the heat to towns across the UK, one legends match at a time.
