Jordon Ibe: The Comeback That Started With Inter Legends

This summer, Inter Legends had the privilege of welcoming Jordon Ibe into the squad—an experience that became far bigger than any charity football match or legends football match we played together. While fans will remember the goals, the assists and the flashes of brilliance, the real story happened behind closed doors, away from cameras and headlines. This was where Inter Legends came together to help a special player find his way back to where he belongs.

Throughout the summer, Jordon Ibe was surrounded by a small group who truly had his corner: Jack Whiting, Craig Mackail-Smith, Amber Fry, Leroy Lita and Derek Asamoah. Every one of them pulled together to support him—not just as a footballer, but as a man. His talent was obvious for everyone to see in every legends charity football match, every training session and every friendly. But it was the work off the pitch that defined his journey.

We made sure Jordon Ibe felt part of something real. There were long drives to charity football matches, late-night phone calls, hours of motivational talks, and constant contact checking in on him. We didn’t want him just playing for Inter Legends—we wanted him to rediscover himself, rebuild his confidence and get back to the highest possible level.

We always told him the truth: as much as we’d love to have him at Inter Legends for years, staying here wouldn’t give his talent—or his character—the justice it deserved. He should never have been playing charity football at this stage in his career, but what he did need was belief… real belief. And that’s what he found here. A group with no judgement, no agenda, just genuine good people in football who wanted the best for him.

Jordon opened up to the squad about mental health struggles, and every time he did, the team gathered round him with support. That’s what made this comeback different. It wasn’t about a high-profile moment or a viral clip. Although other clubs and even the Baller League may take the plaudits for the big appearances, the truth is simple:

Inter Legends was where Jordon Ibe really made his comeback.
Not in stadiums.
Not in front of thousands.
But quietly.
Patiently.
With people who cared.

This summer was about rediscovering the love of the game. And watching him do that—during every legends football match and every legends charity football match—was an honour for all of us.

Today, we’re incredibly proud to say Jordon Ibe has signed for Lokomotiv Sofia. A new chapter. A new opportunity. A new beginning built on courage, graft and a whole lot of heart.

To Lokomotiv Sofia:
Look after our player.
He will return home one day, and he will always be a LEGEND.

To Jordon:
We wish you all the best, mate. We are all fans of Lokomotiv Sofia now. You got yourself back—on and off the pitch—and we’re proud to have been a small part of the journey.

Thank you for choosing Inter Legends, thank you for trusting us, and thank you for reminding everyone exactly who Jordon Ibe is.

Once an Inter Legend, always an Inter Legend.
