The Origin of Inter Legends FC: From Hope to History at Sixfields
Every great story starts somewhere. Ours didn’t begin with a boardroom strategy or a multi-million-pound budget. It started with belief, a badge sewn onto a plain kit, and a message on Instagram. This is the true birth of Inter Legends FC — the day Charity Match Legends Football became more than an idea. It became a movement.
We had no sponsors, no funding, no real plan. What we did have was a dream to create something special in the world of Charity Football.
A Sudden Call That Changed Everything
We were preparing for what was supposed to be our first official Legends Football Match at Sixfields, home of Northampton Town FC, due to take place a few weeks later. Out of nowhere, the club rang to say a team had dropped out of the @carlsberg Cup competition — would we be interested in stepping in?
There was only one answer: Yes.
There was only one problem: we didn’t have a kit.
A Badge, a Deadline, and Every Penny I Had
I found a local contact who could stitch our badge onto plain kits. The only catch was timing. I had to be outside the shop at 9am sharp, picking up the shirts as the shutters opened so we could register the team for the tournament by 10am. It was pure chaos — but it was glorious chaos.
I paid for the entire kit out of my own savings. Money I’d put aside for my wedding. (Please, nobody tell my wife.) 😂
No sponsors. No backing. Just heart, hope, and a belief that this Charity Match Legends Football journey was worth every risk.
Strangers Became Teammates. Teammates Became Champions.
Most of the lads had never met before that morning. Yet from the first whistle, something clicked. We didn’t just compete — we dominated. We won the entire tournament. I wasn’t surprised; deep down I always knew we had it in us, even if I never said it out loud.
That day, over a post-match pint, I looked around the table. I saw the spark. The excitement. The hunger. It was written on every face.
This wasn’t going to be a one-off.
This was the beginning of something extraordinary — a Legends Football Match legacy built on passion, built on friendship, and built on a commitment to use Charity Football as a force for good.
Sixfields: Where the Dream Began
Sixfields isn’t just a stadium to us. It’s our spiritual home. The birthplace of Inter Legends FC. The ground where a handful of players, some strangers just hours before, became united in purpose and vision.
From that first Charity Match Legends Football experience, the mission became clear:
